In a 2024 sermon delivered in the rural Indian town of Sunel, His Holiness elaborated on this truth through the lens of agriculture, showing how it is an important example of our shared dependence on the natural world. He reminded us that caring for the earth is not just a means to our survival but is about fulfilling our role as humble stewards of Creation. Inspired by his teachings and words, Project Rise focuses on food security, sustainability, healthcare, education, water security, sanitation, and humanitarian aid—issues that connect us all and require collective action.
In 2024, Project Rise’s initiatives demonstrated this profound interconnectedness of humanity and nature across continents and communities.

In 2024, Project Rise’s initiatives demonstrated this profound interconnectedness of humanity and nature across continents and communities.
Whether through hunger relief drives across East Africa, ecosystem restoration in Britain, healthcare advancement in Sunel, or crucial humanitarian aid in Gaza through the World Food Program USA, each initiative—representing just a fraction of Project Rise’s impact—reinforced a fundamental truth: when we serve one part of our world, we serve the whole, for in life’s grand tapestry, every thread is vital. Yet, we recognise with deep humility that our efforts are but one thread in this tapestry. Across the globe, countless individuals, organisations, and communities work tirelessly to uplift humanity and protect our shared environment. We are inspired by their dedication and are honoured to work alongside many of them, learning from their wisdom and experience. From grassroots movements to international humanitarian organisations, from environmental activists to healthcare workers, from educators to community volunteers—they all have an irreplaceable role in weaving a better future for all. In every corner of the world, we witness how these collective efforts, however small they may seem, create waves of positive change that ripple far beyond their original source. For when we rise to serve others, we rise not alone, but together—as one human family, interconnected and interdependent, each doing our part to uplift the whole.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Progress Report reminds us of the magnitude of challenges we face together. Rising temperatures, natural disasters, and geopolitical tensions continue to test our resilience as a global family. Yet, despite these challenges, we find hope in the power of collective action and shared purpose. Every meal served, every tree planted, every patient treated, every child educated represents not just an individual act of service, but a testament to what becomes possible when we recognise our fundamental interconnectedness.
Together, we are greater than the sum of our parts. Together, we rise.

In 2024, we saw escalating crises emerge across the world. Increasing homelessness in North America, food insecurity in Africa, anomalous flooding in the Middle East, record-breaking heat waves searing South Asia and global economic instability—all posed threats that cannot be solved alone.
In response to these critical and complex challenges, Project Rise reinforced its commitment to supporting environmental causes, providing humanitarian aid, and championing education and healthcare accessibility.
Consolidating long-standing partnerships and forging new ones, Project Rise volunteers organised themselves to provide nutritious food, achieve water security, and create greener spaces. We participated in the discourse for climate action at the COP29* Global Summit in Azerbaijan. Together, we expanded healthcare accessibility through the opening of new hospitals, and in India’s hottest recorded year, undertaking a nationwide initiative for heat relief.
In partnership with the World Food Program, we extended crucial support to those impacted by conflict in Gaza, and turned our efforts to the victims of devastating floods in the Middle East, Far East, East Africa and South Asia.
These efforts were empowered by local, governmental, and international partnerships, allowing Project Rise to offer immediate relief while committing to long-term solutions. This impact report does not only document our global response to challenges; it is a testament to the strength and strides that are made when we work—and rise—together.
In continuation of Project Rise’s long-standing commitment to combating hunger and providing humanitarian aid, we partnered this year with the World Food Program USA to provide life-saving meals in Gaza. Our community members in the United States of America as well as in various parts of the world contributed to Project Rise’s effort to support the United Nations World Food Program mission in ending hunger.
We hope to continue partnering with WFP and the United Nations in this commitment to help families caught in the crossfires of conflict and upheaval and to build resilience and sustainability.

The world is facing an unprecedented hunger crisis. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) reports that in Gaza, over a million people are facing catastrophic hunger, the highest number ever recorded.
